POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Cleaner reports to the Housekeeping Manager and will be responsible for cleaning selected properties in the portfolio. The Cleaner position is a 1099 role, and requires a person with a strong work ethic, reliability, and high attention to detail. Cleans are generally considered “Same Day” and occur between 11am & 4pm seven days a week. Short term rental (STR) cleaning shares similarities with residential cleaning, but requires a higher attention to detail, because with STR, every clean can and will affect a property’s review score.

Reliability is crucial for this position; guests are arriving, and if a unit isn’t clean, it affects reviews, and reviews are the #1 driver of bookings.

HWC has full cleaning checklists & manuals, and is willing to train cleaners who do not yet have STR experience but are committed to learning.

Our cleaning schedule is flexible; cleaners are able to take as many or a few cleans per week as they’d like, as long as the cleans are well executed. Pay ranges from $40 - $150 flat rate per clean, depending upon the size & complexity of the property. Earnings average $25 - $35 an hour depending on the cleaner’s abilities and condition of the property.

Specifically, the Cleaner will be responsible for:

  • Cleanliness & guest readiness of a particular property or set of properties – assuring HostWise properties are consistently 5 stars

  • Cleaning all surfaces, under surfaces, etc., with an approved set of cleaning products

  • Restocking supplies (toiletries, paper products, etc.) by pulling from our stock room and / or the housekeeping closet

  • Laundry is required in some locations, while other locations laundry is done off-site

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform successfully in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill(s), and/or abilities (including physical abilities) required to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.  

  • Note - this position is a 1099 position; cleaners have full control of their schedule

  • Enjoy cleaning properties in a fast-paced environment

  • Able bodied, able to walk up and down stairs multiple times a day, and carry cleaning + restocking supplies

  • Valid driver’s license & reliable vehicle; properties are throughout Pittsburgh, though generally highly consolidated on North Side, Lawrenceville, Downtown, and Mt. Washington

  • Ability to communicate well and accept feedback & take direction from the Housekeeping Manager

  • Must have a sense of urgency and be able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Reliability is key; skipping cleans without notifying the Housekeeping Manager and / or not having an emergency cannot be tolerated, as there is no ability to “do it later.”

  • Smart phone is required; we use Slack, Turnoverbnb, email, and other apps to help plan our day and communicate

  • Jobs are paid immediately after the clean, via direct deposit into bank accounts.
